Excellent Guide, Rotating Equipment

In working with pumps, mixers, turbines and generators, I have been frustrated countless times with various problems and no where to turn; until now. This book is an excellent guide to rotating machinery (and related appurtenances such as bearings) of practically every type. It is not, however, written for anyone who lacks a working knowledge of partial differential equations, Fast Fourier Transform, Power Series, matrix analyses and the like. The book is very well illustrated with countless examples and accompanying equations with good, brief explanations. If I were to be critical of the book I might be tempted to find fault with its the lack of coverage of finite element analysis in solving vibration problems, but then again maybe not. Finite element analyses can fill a book all by itself, so why clutter up an otherwise excelent guide on rotating equipment? If you work with the design, operation and/or testing of rotating equipment other than pool pumps and ceiling fans, this is the book for you.

Definitely one of the best books out there on RotorDynamics. Contributions by several experts (e.g. S.H. Crandall of MIT) from both industry and academia. This also gives the book various viewpoints. Written as a Reference, coud as well be used as a Text for an advanced graduate course.
