Painstakingly Written Factual & Historical Masterpiece

I congratulate Christopher Goffard for writing a gripping true cliffhanger of the events that transpired in successive tumultuous times in Kenya's history. I know because I was present in the 1990s during the wrongful incarceration of attorney Charles Mbuthi Gathenji. I never had the rare honor of meeting Father John Kaiser; his life and times are methodically captured in what could easily have been a 500 page book.
This book will remain a historical record of traumatic accounts of not only two men but of a nation.

Very interesting story about an interesting man. A lot of investigation by the author which was appreciated. Also not one sided, but showed the many sides of this crime. A kind of who done it, but who knows in the end who did it.

Could have been so much better

SPOILER ALERT: I had purchased this book a while ago and finally found time to read it. In the interim, I had forgotten the synopsis.

I read through the third or fourth chapter and found myself completely aggravated with the main character, Carl. People around him had physically changed overnight and he hadn't noticed. I kept re-reading the chapters thinking I missed something, but I hadn't. I returned to Amazon to read the synopsis and that's when I finally understood what was happening in the book. I believe a few more chapters went by before Carl and the reader have any idea how tall, lanky geeks suddenly turned into muscle-bound hunks. The obliviousness if the main character is likely the author's point, but I wish the author had included the reader in the secret so each chapter didn't seem so disjointed from the previous one. If the Amazon write-up didn't include information on the app which was manipulating physical appearance and memories, I would have stopped reading right there.

As the story progressed, the characters didn't. The more I read, the more I disliked all of the characters and how they manipulated every situation so that they never had to pay for their mistakes and so they could have sex with anyone and everyone they wanted to. Every person you're introduced to (including the parents) turn into sluts. I became bored with the story. I skipped forward to see if there was any redemption at the end. Unfortunately, there wasn't.

I like the concept of this story, which is why I purchased it in the first place. I didn't like the execution.

Awesome story, epic in scope

I think this is the longest piece Hugh has written and its phenomenal, you'll burn through it like it was a short story. The action and story beats are paced perfectly to keep you reading. I read it straight through in one sitting. Definitely recommend!

A HOT read!

Hugh does it again with this piece of tf fiction. I found myself thinking more about the what ifs in this world than the vast amounts of sex, but that's just me. I wish it was more of a traditional tf story describing the muscle growth, etcetera, but this is almost better as he describes the finished result really well! A great read for when you need a tf fix.

There are lots of jewels to be found within these pages!

This book is clearly written with detailed examples and worked problems (and it doesn't assume that you know all the details). I am an electrical engineer who is preparing for the Professional Engineer Exam (Power), and I found this book to be an excellent source. For example, I have little experience with regards to illumination nor experience utilizing synchronous machines for power factor correction, but this book answered the questions I had. It's a quick read - short and to the point, yet there are lots of jewels to be found within these pages! I highly recommend it - even for electrical engineers!
