THE fx book

I've bought a few books on FX modelling, theory and the like and this hits the sweet spot for explicating how the models work, different motivations for different time frames and the theory behind it. No complex math, no crazy excel/Matlab worked models but a great book for more fundamentally oriented folk (cough) who want to better understand how macro people look at things and how they approach investing. Wish it was on kindle.

Waited 20 days to receive the book

That was so bad service. I sent an email to ask why the I did not received the book for 15 days. Someone replied to me that the delivery fare is under 4 bulks, so I gonna to wait the response from post office, but not her. She also refused to provide the tracking number with me to do further investigation. That was so bad experience.

Prior to his current position, he worked as a Database Solutions Architect at Reckitt Benckiser Group, plc (UK) focusing on IBM Smart Analytics System 5600, Siebel, SQL Server, and SAP HANA solutions. He is an IBM Champion (2010–2015) and a DB2's Got Talent 2013 winner. Mohan has written dozens of technical papers for IBM developerWorks and IBM Data Magazine. He is an IBM Certified DB2 Advanced Database Administrator, DB2 Application Developer, and DB2 Problem Determination Master. Mohan holds a Master's of Technology (M Tech) degree in computer science and an Executive MBA (IT). Robert (Kent) Collins, founder of Shiloh Consulting, Inc., is currently a Data Solutions Architect with BNSF Railway. He is an IBM Champion (2010–2015) and a frequent speaker at the DB2Night Show and IDUG and IOD (IBM Insight) conferences. Kent has worked continually with DB2 from its introduction to the market in 1984, amassing a wealth of knowledge and experience. He graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with majors in mathematics and computer science. He is an IBM Certified Solutions Expert and also holds certifications in DB2, AIX, Linux, .NET, Oracle, SQL Server, Windows, and z/OS. Kent is proficient in many programming languages and, as a Java Architect, specializes in Enterprise HA/Performance systems. He lives in Dallas with his wife, Vicki; together, they have three children and one grandchild.

In this internet age, it is tricky project to write technology books. For any DB2 UDB administrators, solution architects, trainers, and newbies alike this book is a must have. The concepts in every chapter start from ground up and go to very deep. The author has really tried to provide as many real world examples for existing and new features in DB2 10.1. These real world examples really bring out the usefulness of new features in DB2 10.1 to the business world. For experienced DBAs there are lot of useful troubleshooting, and performance tools, tips and techniques. For experienced professionals, you get to expert insights into implementation and use of new features like RCAC, Compression techniques, PureXML, IBM Data studio, Ingest Utility and its issues, PureScale Cluster, RCAC, Multiple Standbys, new db2aduit features, DB2 and LDAP implementation, and a bonus full chapter on DB2 10.5 and BLU technology. Anyone remotely associated with DB2 UDB know that how big an impact DB2 BLU is making to analytic industry. This is a must have if you want to be a DB2 UDB expert or looking to train the new lot of hardworking professionals in this field. For exam preparation there is also a bonus Question Bank in store. Recommended read for DBAs for all levels

Probably the best certification prep book I've read, plus MORE. The authors have masterfully crafted each chapter to cover the selected topic with enough detail to keep the seasoned DBAs reading, while at the same time, not being overly technical as to scare away the novices/beginners. Each chapter ends with a set of possible test questions, which could be considered representative of the material just covered, followed by a discussion of each question and why each possible answer is either correct or not.

I was amazed by the way authors explained the concepts

As soon as I got the book, my first impression was “BOOK IS HUGE”!!! When I looked the content, I was amazed by the way authors explained the concepts. I really like the idea of Questions and Answers section. These questions are just not limited to prepare one for the certification exam, but also holds good for job interview preparation.

I liked it so far, and now just need to read and pass the DB2 10.1 + 10.5 upgrade exam quickly.

An exhaustive, path-breaking work

This exhaustively researched and carefully argued book explores an entirely new dimension of Kant's work. Examining the relationship between Kant's ethics and his work in anthropology, it uncovers an aspect of his work that has typically been overlooked in other accounts: his discussion of the shaping of moral character. Readers who assumed they understood Kant's moral philosophy will be constantly amazed at how much they managed to miss. Those who have always found something slightly implausible about Kant's ethics will find a much stronger reconstruction of his argument than they might have expected. The scholarship here is staggering: Munzel seems to have read everything. This book is essential reading for anyone trying to come to terms with Kant's achievement.

An extremely important book

This is an exteremly important book from the bibliographer of the N. American Kant Society. It draws heavily from the work of Makkreel and the editors of Kant's Lectures on Antropology in Marburg, e.g., Werner Stark. As such both Makkreel's book and volume 25, the lectures, (Kants Lesungen uber anthropologie, from de Gruyter) should be bought along with this book if possible. The first is available from Amazon.com, the second from Amazon.de However, Munzel's book is more than worthwhile even without the pricy Kant lectures, and ultimately deals with some very different areas than those focused on in Makkreel's book. It's only real faults are its somewhat too-wordy presentation, and its tendency to present the ideal Kantian as a kind of moral saint.

Very interesting study on I Love Lucy

The book is well written, concise, yet thorough in discussing the development of the I Love Lucy series. I found it to be enjoyable and probably of great interest to fans and students of television, film and comedy. My particular area of interest and study is film and television music and that is covered as it relates to the series, also.

About the Author
Patricia Russotti is a New Media Professor, College of Imaging Arts & Sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology. She is an artist, educator, curriculum developer, and international presenter. She provides imaging services for corporations, public service organizations and individual artistic commissions.
Richard Anderson is a working commercial photographer, a member of the Board of Directors of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), Chair of the ASMP Digital Standards Committee, Principal author of UPDIG.org, and creator of dpBestflow.org, a Library of Congress funded project. He is also the recipient of 2009 International Photographic Council (IPC) Photographer Leadership Award.

Useful but not the best workflow book

This book is ambitious. It strives to be the standard workflow reference or educational aid. The writing style is academic, meaning scholarly, and often this is a hindrance (scholars write for scholars). The subject matter travels hills and valleys in that it sometimes dwells on the obvious, while at other times skims over confusing technical topics. Mostly it takes three pages to state three paragraphs, which is another example of the academic approach.

A much better book is The Digital Photography Workflow Handbook my Juergen Gulbins and Uwe Steinmueller from Rocky Nook Publishing. This is an excellent book translated from the German work, Handbuch Digitale Dunkelkammer. Begin with this one.

Didn't Work For Me

It took about 10 or 15 minutes of looking through this book to realize it wasn't going to meet my needs. A book on the subject of best practices and workflow should be concise, yet elaborate on essential knowledge. This book was so full of theory and other fluff, I couldn't find the substance. To me, it was more like a textbook just waiting for a pop quiz. Sent it right back to Amazon who gave me a credit but not a refund. No problem, as I do a lot of Amazon shopping!

P.S.: Not what I was looking for but may work for others.....
