Beautifully put-together. I'm only about halfway through, but it's a fascinating way to read about E St V M's life. Great insights as to who she was and how she wrote. I'd recommend following along by reading the poems and stories she mentions in the letters.

The Divine Forces of the Lunar Nakshatras as Portrayed in the Vedas is an immeasurably profound, illuminating, and essential work which gives the modern reader the darshan of the vedic devatas through deep research into the original vedic texts. It will be a foundation text for any serious student of jyotish, as well as students of vedic culture. Many aspects of the vedic sacrificial culture can be gathered from the role the devatas play in the ceremonies. Quoting extensively from original sacred texts, it goes beyond any modern personality-oriented explication of the nakshatras to reveal the luminous “divine forces” enlivening the cosmos and our humanity. Radhe does provide wonderful descriptions of the qualities of “the native” of each nakshatra after a thorough exploration of the qualities, attributes, and mythologies of the ruling devata. She concentrates on the earliest “pure” nature of the vedic deities but also traces their evolution (or devolution) in later literature where they are portrayed as more and more involved in the dramas characteristic of humanity. This is a book to be read and reread, studied, contemplated, and lived with. We are blessed to be given such a precious gift of scholarship, insight, and love.

A must read for any serious student of Jyotish

The level of research that Radhe did on the Vedic origins of the Nakshatras is truly awe-inspiring. The Nakshatras are a subtle and important yet poorly understood aspect of Vedic Astrology. Unfortunately, there are few books that actually illuminate this area clearly. The Nakshatras can't be truly be comprehended without an understanding of the celestial intelligences that eniven them. Radhe has excelled in giving us a clear and fascinating picture of each of the Vedic Gods and the Nakshatras they gave rise to. Most importantly, she has culled from these timeless myths, the practical influence of a Nakshatra on an individual's personality when it is prominently place in the chart. It's been a very enjoyable and informative read. I congratulate her on this monumental contribution to the field of Jyotish.

Radhe tells the myths, lores, rites, and rituals of each nakshatra with scholarly evidence as well as through her own insight. It's definitely heavier (and substantial) than just a casual read. I've been looking for a nakshatra book (not the cook book types) and this is THE ONE I've been looking for. The myths and origins help in understanding the nakshatras on a deeper level. The writer's interpretation of each nakshatra is also quite profound.

The index is a bit hard to navigate as nakshatras are not listed in order with page numbers; it would also be great if lordships are listed as well. I marked these notes on my book, so it works for me.

Definitely a book to keep. Highly recommend!

Beautiful Guide! I've always been a fan of these guides, and this one certaily doesn't disappoint.

It's such an easy guide to use. All of the important practical, safety and health info is organized in one place. Cities organized by region, with plenty of color maps for each of the major city centers (including metro maps where applicable). The book is packed with color photos and great illustrations of some of the more famous sites, explaining layout and architectural details for the illustrations.

The overview about the country is very well written, but "The History of Spain" is one of my favorite sections. It is a fantastic condensed history book and has a neat illustrated timeline to help you remember who different people were and the events that shaped Spanish history.

My purpose in buying this was to get a low cost guide with lots of pictures to help me identify locations from slides taken 25 years ago. Bought the older edition to save money and it has worked out perfectly for my purpose. These are not always the best guides in terms of information or picking routes to follow when you're laying out your own itinerary, but they offer the unique advantage of giving you a good visual idea of what you are going to see - or in my case what I saw 25 years before. :-)

I love the Eyewitness series books for travel. They are informative and worth reading before a trip.
My biggest criticism is the sheer weight of them. It makes them hard to throw in your bag and carry around with you.
I wish these books were available for Kindle.
